I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in PA and OR. I utilize a strengths-based approach to help my clients identify their innate skills/abilities. I place a strong emphasis on “systems," and I recognize that issues rarely stem from just the individual. I am also client-centered and will work with you to identify your individualized treatment goals. I believe in allowing my clients to self-determine their goals when applicable. However, I am happy to provide guidance if you are unsure of your specific needs.

I work with children, families, couples, and adults. Over the past seven years I have worked in corrections, public schools, and outpatient settings. From my experience I have developed a collaborative approach and believe that therapy is only effective if my clients feel that they are partners in the therapeutic process. My main modalities are emotionally-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and CBT.

I recently moved back to Pennsylvania after living and working in Oregon for the past three years. However, I'm currently accepting new Oregon telehealth clients and would be happy to work with you!

Life is like a journey through the woods. It’s easy to lose track of where you wanted to go or to get delayed by the many obstacles that appear in your path. But good support can help you make your journey through life more successful (however you define success).  You may feel completely lost and alone in the woods, want to develop a clearer vision for your future destination, be dealing with obstacles, or simply want some extra support as you prepare to take on the next leg of your journey. Wherever you are, I am here to help you find solutions and take the next steps forward.

I work with individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in addressing stress/anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, career related stress, or just coaching you on toward your best life. When in-person sessions become available, I am also able to offer aromatherapy for those who want to experience the power of essential oils to help your brain and body make positive shifts.

Prior to completing my degree in counseling from Western Seminary in 2017, I spent 15 years working in ministry using horses to help individuals and families heal and grow. I spent many years leading teams, training staff, and coaching clients to success. And in my experience, people are never one sided. We are a complex blend of heart, body, mind, and spirit. Each part interacting and impacting the others both within ourselves and with the people and environment around us. So as a counselor I want to see you go beyond surviving and to learn to THRIVE in all areas.

I am not an expert on your life. You are. I am an expert at the process of helping you assess and clarify your values, define your purpose, build on your strengths, and develop your areas of potential growth. For nearly twenty years, I have worked with individuals, families and couples to successfully navigate life transitions, overcome challenges, and create meaningful and healthy relationships.

I work with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I specialize in helping clients navigate life transitions such as career changes, education level changes, relationship transitions, etc. My ten years of counseling experience in K-12 schools and six years as a college counselor have especially prepared me to work with adolescents who struggle with social, personal and school challenges. I am also uniquely qualified to work with the parents/guardians and families of adolescents and young adults.

Therapists typically adhere to one or more theories that provides them with a framework of how to understand and improve people's lives. Thus, the therapeutic experience will be different from one therapist to another depending on their theoretical orientation. It can be important to know a therapist's theoretical approach so that you can make informed choices about choosing the best therapist for you.

As a solution-focused and cognitive emotional behavioral therapist (CEBT), I provide a safe and healthy space to better understand your life circumstances. My role is to help you identify and clarify the changes you would like to see. Together we will assess your strengths and assets to create pathways of growth. These pathways are specific, measurable, achievable and timely (SMART). While the past can be important in creating positive change, as a solution-focused therapist, I believe that real and long-term positive changes can come from examining and understanding your present circumstances. As a CEBT therapist, we will identify systems of dysfunctional thoughts, emotions and behaviors that sustain your unhappiness and may keep you "stuck". Then, we work together to replace these systems with healthy, positive and functional systems of living. While therapy is often serious and requires work, my clients would tell you that it can also be fun.

Finally, when searching for the right therapist, it is important to know their education and training. Specifically, my training includes a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Spanish, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Professional School Counselor in Oregon.  Additionally, I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Nationally Certified School Counselor (NCSC).  Those are a lot of acronyms and what matters most is that I am skilled counselor who cares about people living happy and healthy lives. If you've read this far and feel like me and my approach might be a good "fit", please feel free to reach out and set up a time for us to meet.

Is your teen struggling? Maybe you've noticed a decline in self-esteem or change in their behavior. It can be hard to approach your kid about these concerns, and sometimes, they don't want to talk about it. Expressive Arts therapy can be a powerful way to feel safe and to open up. I work with adults too! I believe therapy should be collaborative and non-authoritative. We will work together as allies, mutually invested in your growth. My approach is different.

I have over 15 years of experience working in community mental health with people of all ages and backgrounds. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Expressive Arts therapy from Goddard College in Vermont. I work primarily from an Multi and Inter-Modal Expressive Arts lens. I will invite you to get in touch with your creativity as we explore different mediums. Using an inter-modal approach means that we might move from one form of expression to another, perhaps even several times in the course of a session. Some processes we may explore include mixed-media experimentation, sandtray work, mindfulness practice, dreamwork, creative writing, movement, sound, play, and imaginative expression.

Are you "too much" for some people? Maybe you feel like you don't really fit in anywhere. I'm not here to change you. I want to know who you are, to really see you, to experience all the beautiful and unique little quirks that make you, you! And if you are struggling to own those things, if you are hesitant to accept these parts, then I hope that you will grow to love yourself more deeply as we work together, and that you grow to be more fully and authentically you.

I believe therapy should be collaborative and non-authoritative. We will work together as allies, mutually invested in your growth. One thing I have learned from my own experiences with the mental health system, as well as the experiences of my clients, is that receiving mental health services can sometimes feel dehumanizing and dismissive. I aim to not do that. I will not pathologize you, analyze you, or otherwise disrespect you. Of course, to err is human, and thus, I welcome your feedback at all times. I believe therapy is a relationship, and so I recognize that it is my responsibility to be open to change, just as I ask my clients to be when they step into the therapeutic space.

I greatly enjoy working with teens, especially those who may be hesitant to try therapy. I also welcome survivors of trauma to reach out so we can discuss what trauma-informed therapy is and why it is important for survivors to seek a counselor who is properly trained to work with their needs. Whether or not you choose to work with me, I would like to help you find someone qualified to truly help in your healing journey. While teens and survivors are populations I specialize in, I am open to working with people from all different backgrounds.

BIOI grew up in Oregon and returned as an adult learner graduating from Portland State University, Master of Social Work degree, with emphasis in child and family clinical work.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in Play Therapy, Sand Tray, Experiential Therapies, Brainspotting, Attachment work, Perinatal issues, and HeartMath. I’m certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy.  Being trauma sensitive and using mindfulness is what I like to focus on as a therapist.  I like to bring a sense of peace and inner resilience to the folks I meet with, and I believe that anyone of any age can gain awareness of their own resilience and capacity to heal. The potential for healing is within each one of us, and my role is to help bring each person’s inner healer into being.

My passions include helping parents increase relationship with their children, and helping children gain feelings of security and attachment with the grownups in their lives.  Attachment relationships of child and parent, whether this is birth-family, adoptive-family, foster-family, or single clients who are working on healing from the past are all situations that I have experience working with.

Please feel free to see if I would make a good fit for what you are looking for in therapy. I work with all ages and stages of development, am LGBTQ+ aware, and open to working with the human that you are and who you want to become.  We are all growing into who we truly are and what our gifts can be. May your light shine bright!

Welcome! As you may already know, counseling may be tied to stigma, and can feel like a scary place to begin - Know that you are not alone! Many people seek counseling for a variety of reasons: tragedy, trauma, stress, relationships, overwhelming feelings, loss of purpose, depression, anxiety, lack of self-worth and value, and sometimes just to have a non-biased person to be able to let it all out with.

Though counseling may carry a stigma, it can be a very empowering, healing, and rewarding journey. The fact that you made it here shows you are taking the first steps in finding the right counselor for you.

It is my belief that every individual has the ability to reach and maintain their desired state of being through the counseling process. I am passionate about helping individuals achieve self-awareness, and acceptance while providing a safe space for exploration, processing, and implementation of change to occur. My therapeutic orientation is grounded in humanistic, person-centered, and CBT approaches. These approaches are highly effective when being used in a conducive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Whether or not you choose me as your counselor, I am proud of you for making it this far in your search for the right counselor for you! Counseling Heals!

I operate from a relational lens where we collaboratively work through difficult emotions by creating a way to honor the pain and difficulties and build a life that matters to you. My approach in this process is to foster a sense of safety, acceptance, and curiosity. In our time together you will have the opportunity to share your story; to be heard and to be known. I will offer you skills to help with the entanglement of thoughts and to foster self-compassion and mindfulness as we move towards a meaningful life.

My educational background includes a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Portland State University. I am currently a Professional Counselor Associate working towards licensure with the state of Oregon.

I use an integrative approach with a trauma-informed lens mainly drawing from theoretical foundations of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy while incorporating neuroscience and Attachment science. I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, self-worth, life transitions, and relationship dynamics.

I believe that each person is unique, and together we can discover your specific therapeutic needs. It would be an honor to work with you.

Hi, I'm Emilee and I've been working as a child and family therapist for about 3 years now. I graduated with my Master's degree in 2022 and recently moved up to the Salem area. I'm currently based in the Salem-Keizer school district and have telehealth availability in the afternoons.

I believe that healing comes from acceptance, self-compassion, and personal exploration. I aim to help my clients find balance between empowerment and accountability. Shame often impedes progress and keeps us stuck. As such, I take a positive, person-centered approach to highlight strengths as well as challenges. I incorporate play, coping skills, distress tolerance strategies, and existentialism in my practice. I love to explore the things that make life meaningful. While I have experience with a range of presenting issues, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ populations, manifestations of trauma, attachment issues, and family stress.

Whether you're going through issues with trauma, anger, relationships, anxiety, or just navigating the stress of the world, it would be my pleasure to walk by your side and be with you through your healing journey.
