My experience has always been with the neurodivergent population, specifically the women like myself that were too high masking to be seen, yet always felt different. If you are silently struggling to live up to your potential or feeling like you don't know how to be your authentic self, I get it. I don't take the expert role, rather help you uncover your happiest self through acceptance and accommodation. Two important challenges neurodivergent women struggle with.

l take an eclectic approach to therapy by combining person centered therapy, CBT, DBT informed, IFS informed and somatic experiencing to create a mind body connection so many of us neurocomplex individuals struggle with. While ultimately those that I work with want to become authentic and experience emotional freedom, often complex trauma comes along for the ride. The combination of therapy tools simultaneously address these issues as well.

I completed my undergrad with University of Phoenix and my Master in Christian Counseling at Houston Baptist University in Houston, TX in 2020. While I do have the niche ability to practice Christian counseling, my special interest is in deconstructing from religious trauma.

In addition to viewing life and therapy through an ADHD and ASD lens, I became certified in 2024 to assess and evaluate these conditions. I currently only evaluate adults and can accommodate a therapeutic model and traditional model. Therapeutic assessment involves 6-8 sessions and is relationship based for those looking for personal answers and a less intense assessment experience than traditional testing. Traditional evaluation involves extended appointments over 3-4 days and is best for those looking for a hard and fast diagnosis to take to other medical providers, schools, work, etc.

Whatever aspect of neurodiversity you are dealing with, you are not alone and you do not have to stay stuck there. Together we will create the strategies that help you become your authentic self and create a life you love.

I love hats, and I wear a lot. You'll see!

Maybe you don't love to wear literal hats like I do, but I'm sure that you wear all sorts of figurative hats to manage life's challenges. We all feel pressured to be a certain way in life, and sometimes that pressure leads us into internal and relational disunity, disorganization, and psychological bondage as we try to figure out which hat to wear. When we find ourselves in this predicament, it can keep us from letting our hair down, letting go, and connecting with ourselves and others.

My life's work is to discover how to bring unity, organization, psychological freedom, and relational thriving in the lives of each person I have the privilege to work with. I have 15 years experience working in a variety of settings, group homes, residential treatment, and most recently outpatient based community mental health, both in the office and school setting. I have specialty training in Parent-child Interaction Therapy and am working towards full certification.

Because of my experience and training, my therapeutic style is integrative and pragmatic, relying heavily on family systems theory. I strive to be authentic, gentle, understanding, direct, creative, and to use humor. I will challenge you with compassion. I will expect of you what I expect of me: to show up and get to the work of pursuing a more fulfilling you.

I embrace the full human experience. I respect religion, spirituality, the non-religious, agnostics, and the variety of beliefs people have to enrich their lives. My bachelor's degree is in German and English, and I have a Master's degree in history of religion. I also began a PhD in religion, but I decided to leave the towers of academia to work in the trenches of human experience. I have lived for several years in another country. Believing that our history and relationships are important to how we live, I decided to get my second Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University to get a better understanding of how relationships can work. I keep studying them.

I'm a lover of the natural world, which to me is deeply therapeutic. On my days off, I want to be out there! Mountain biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, exploring, smelling flowers, getting lost. I also enjoy wood working where hand and mind align in a kind of meditation.

As someone who identifies as bicultural, I can empathize with the many barriers associated with finding a provider who can understand various cultural differences that take place in our world. I want to help you reach your goals in a way that works best for you and your learning style. My theoretical framework is person centered and trauma informed, to provide you with the most personalized experience. I like to incorporate multiple therapy perspectives that include; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Mindfulness.

I have experience working in crisis services as well as outpatient Telehealth settings. My educational background includes completing a Masters in Applied Psychological Science from Pacific University. During my studies, I participated in a year-long clinical internship that focused on supporting people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Anxiety using the evidence based practice of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I enjoy working with people of various backgrounds who are struggling to manage their symptoms of anxiety or depression and are looking for support in taking back control of their lives.

I am committed to creating an environment that is inclusive and respectful to all people regardless of race, color, culture, religion, spiritual practice, sex, age, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

My name is Michael Kurle (pronounced Curlee) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  I am very passionate about helping, advocating, and encouraging people and this has led me to my chosen career of therapy.  I am a recent Oregon transplant, having moved from my native state of Oklahoma as I have always had this pull on me to move to the Pacific Northwest and with everything that happened with COVID we made the decision to sell our home and uproot 40+ years of our life and move.

I practice utilizing several different treatment “modalities” or methods.  My preferred method is to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT for short.  CBT is the most widely used treatment modality and has the most research proving how effective it is, especially with things such as anxiety and depression.  I also am trained in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, which is an amazing therapy tool that is gaining more and more popularity in working with trauma related issues and is being expanded to include phobias, depression, and anxiety.  Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Focused CBT are also modalities I am trained in and experienced with when those interventions best suit what someone needs.

I started my educational journey with a Bachelors degree in Developmental Psychology and proceeded to join the workforce then.  I spent almost a decade working in various aspects in the Oklahoma Department of Human Services as a social worker working with children and families and then followed my path to be a therapist and earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma.  I spent nearly two decades working with children and families and in the past couple of years I have turned my focus towards adults and helping adults of all ages.

Age ranges for individual and family services are from High School through the entirety of adulthood.  Seeking help and being open to explore things in therapy requires bravery and a desire to heal, both of which you have if you are reading this.  I would be honored if you would allow me to join you as you travel towards health and happiness.

I believe counseling must be a collaborative effort in which the client and clinician work together to identify needs, concerns, aspirations, and to develop a clear vision for the work they are to do together. My role as a counselor is to help guide individuals through the process of discovering their inherent strengths and barriers which can involve identifying and working through past and/or present conflicts. Collaboration is a key element in my practice as we work together to build a healthy therapeutic relationship where we can experience trust, empathy, and acceptance, and respect for all parties involved.

The counseling process may look different for each client. The approach used and the length of treatment may vary due to individual needs and circumstances. Clients always have the right to stop counseling at any point in treatment and/or choose a different counselor. If the client need is outside of my scope of practice I will inform the client and refer when possible. The counseling process is not easy and there are no guarantees. Initially, it may be disruptive to the client’s emotional experiences and/or relationships, however, this is a normal part of the counseling process.

I graduated from Corban University with a Masters in Family Life Studies in 2014. Shortly upon graduation I began my counseling career with Youth Villages Intercept program, where I continue to provide intensive in home services to children and their families. In 2017, I decided to become a clinical supervisor with Youth Villages Intercept program. Currently (2020), I provide direct care to families and supervise. I am a trauma informed clinician certified in TF-CBT. I am also a collaborative problem solving certified clinician through Think Kids.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Existentialism and Mindfulness Therapy to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorders, obsessive compulsive behaviors, and grief. I am a trauma informed clinician certified in TF-CBT.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and relaxed. Together, we will look at the blocks of fear, guilt, anger, hurt and learn to see past them to who you really are. Healing lies within our relationships when we choose to give up judgment and look upon ourselves and others with kindness and compassion.

Born and raised in Oregon, "a coastie," I made my way inland for college, graduating first from Chemeketa, then a short stint at WOU before graduating from Oregon State with a couple of BA degrees. After myriad jobs around the Salem area, I started on my Master's degree at Portland State.

My clinical focus revolves primarily around DBT, Narrative therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, with some dabbling in other modalities such as Terror Management Theory. My clinical experience comes from Chemawa Indian School, Salem Hospital, Willamette Valley Hospice and here, at Stronger Oregon. I primarily do individual therapy and occasionally couples therapy, too.

My drive is to understand you as best as possible, and to find root cause issues for what troubles you. My hope is that we will both learn from the experience and be better for it.

Hello, welcome to my Stronger Oregon Page! My name is Kristy McPeak (she/her/hers) and I'm a Professional Counselor Associate registered in the state of Oregon. I wanted to share a little bit about my educational background, therapeutic style and clients served.

My college experience began in 2012, when I graduated with a Certificate of Addiction Counseling, and later earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences with a Minor in Psychology. During that time, my work with adolescents and young adults in a variety of therapeutic, and non-profit settings led me to continue my educational journey, and in 2016 I received a Master’s in Counseling from Oregon State University, with an emphasis in both school and mental health counseling.

I enjoy working with clients across the life-span including children, adolescents, young people and adults. I have experience helping with anxiety, family and life transitions, addiction, teen pregnancy, depression, ADHD, trauma and loss.

My therapeutic style is rooted in compassion, person-centered, and collaborative in nature. I believe we all experience times where we need support, and it takes courage to reach out for help. Each of us has unique needs that can change over time, and counseling is individualized to each person’s situation. You are an important part of the therapeutic process, and the work that we do together. I place a great deal of value in the counseling relationship and believe you have inherent worth.

I strive to create a trauma-informed and supportive environment, where you feel valued and heard throughout the counseling process. I also honor the importance of mind and body wellness, taking a holistic approach. As counseling is individualized to meet the diverse needs of my clients, I use an integrative lens which includes using the following theoretical orientations: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Somatic and Art Therapy.

Choosing a therapist is a big decision, and I welcome the opportunity of working with you, your family or child. Please reach out if you have questions, or to schedule your first appointment.

I believe that everyone can reach an optimum state of health. I employ an eclectic (or including all kinds of therapy types) approach with a strong reliance on cognitive-behavioral aspects. I am trained in EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, PCIT therapy, Infant/Toddler Mental Health, mindfulness techniques, and possess a certificate in Substance Abuse Treatment. I also have several years experience and training with sexual assault and domestic violence.

For my formal education and training; after completing my bachelor degree and obtaining a Substance Abuse Certificate, I realized I was not able to assist clients with trauma or other issues. So, I went back to school to get the degree I needed to be able to help all the people who came to me. Now, I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.

My career began with teenagers in residential treatment for substance abuse, after this I worked with a younger group of 5-11 year olds in residential treatment for behavior problems. From there I moved to adults with legal issues and substance abuse, while having a second job as a sexual assault counselor. I have worked with very young children, under 1 year old and their parents, as well as older adults who are in need of resolving old conflicts in their past so they can look forward to the future and all others in between.

The therapy techniques we use depend on you and what works best for you, this is a team effort with you in the lead. Let’s talk about how I can help you today. I welcome all ages and backgrounds.
