My experience has always been with the neurodivergent population, specifically the women like myself that were too high masking to be seen, yet always felt different. If you are silently struggling to live up to your potential or feeling like you don't know how to be your authentic self, I get it. I don't take the expert role, rather help you uncover your happiest self through acceptance and accommodation. Two important challenges neurodivergent women struggle with.

l take an eclectic approach to therapy by combining person centered therapy, CBT, DBT informed, IFS informed and somatic experiencing to create a mind body connection so many of us neurocomplex individuals struggle with. While ultimately those that I work with want to become authentic and experience emotional freedom, often complex trauma comes along for the ride. The combination of therapy tools simultaneously address these issues as well.

I completed my undergrad with University of Phoenix and my Master in Christian Counseling at Houston Baptist University in Houston, TX in 2020. While I do have the niche ability to practice Christian counseling, my special interest is in deconstructing from religious trauma.

In addition to viewing life and therapy through an ADHD and ASD lens, I became certified in 2024 to assess and evaluate these conditions. I currently only evaluate adults and can accommodate a therapeutic model and traditional model. Therapeutic assessment involves 6-8 sessions and is relationship based for those looking for personal answers and a less intense assessment experience than traditional testing. Traditional evaluation involves extended appointments over 3-4 days and is best for those looking for a hard and fast diagnosis to take to other medical providers, schools, work, etc.

Whatever aspect of neurodiversity you are dealing with, you are not alone and you do not have to stay stuck there. Together we will create the strategies that help you become your authentic self and create a life you love.

Therapy is fun. Therapy is creative. Therapy is a two-person job. Therapy is human connection. Therapy is uncomfortable. Therapy is finding your authenticity. Hi! I'm Josie and before I am a therapist, I am human, just like you. When I am not doing therapist things you will catch me being human with my pet pig and cats, or thrifting for goodies. I enjoy the little glimmers in life and hope to inspire you to do the same. It is my goal to work closely with you to structure therapy to be what you need. It is so important to connect with your therapist to build a trusting relationship. This will be our first step together.

I provide gentle challenges to help you see other perspectives. I believe that we don’t grow if we are comfortable. I provide serious validation regarding your feelings and your experiences. I also don’t mind calling you out (therapeutically of course) if needed and wanted. We can also bring out our craft stashes together and do an art therapy project.

As someone who has ADHD, I understand the struggle. With my background and personal experience, we can see what works for you. We are all different! It is my hope that in our sessions you just feel like you’re talking to an honest friend who is supporting you through a non-biased and informed lens.

Remember: therapy is human connection

Hi, my name is Mine't, which is pronounced and associated with many great French artists (Think Claude Monet). My method is like an artist taking a blank canvas to create something only their imagination sees with colors and techniques. I have a passion to help others see their own masterpiece within their life. I develop a safe place to express those things weighing on the heart that might be difficult to acknowledge and identify. I enjoy empowering others to accomplish their own greatness. I have the ability to listen, challenge when needed, and help you develop life skills to handle hard moments in life. I also value a holistic approach; encompassing all aspects of life, finding keys that will enrich your life and the lives of everyone you care about.

I have more than 10 years of experience working with individuals in a mental health counseling environment.  Most of my experience has been working with severely mentally ill individuals. I worked intensely within my bachelor level degree, helping others develop life and coping skills to handle the immense pressures of life.  I have worked with youth and adolescents within my career. I worked hard through my own personal life struggles to obtain a master’s degree through Capella University and accomplished the tasks necessary to become a licensed mental health counselor. I have started working with couples, helping them improve their communication struggles, and be a successful team against the world.

I have experience helping clients with stress, anxiety, relationship issues and coping with grief and loss. I have also helped people struggling with depression, motivation, low self-esteem and confidence. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly and extremely accepting of all sexualities and gender choices. I also love to learn about and explore new cultures and how our own culture influences or could potentially influence us as an empowerment tool in our lives. I believe that YOU are the expert of your story and that YOU possess all of the strengths that will assist you in overcoming anything that challenge you. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

All of us have a story we tell about ourselves, who we are & where we come from. But we don’t realize that a lot of how we construct this narrative is our own doing. Who wouldn’t want to be the hero, the winner, the best of the best?

Good therapy is about noticing how we’ve woven the tapestry of our life to include both success and failure, joy and pain, love and loss….to begin to notice our own strengths and incorporate them on a daily basis to find more freedom from nagging doubts, worries, concerns and the endless cycles of
restlessness that has become a standard American way of life.

My background includes thirty plus years of sharing ways to incorporate meditation, mindfulness, CBT and narrative therapy to help clients find freedom and peace of mind. I’ve taught internationally and in the U.S. at the college level, have been certified by the founder of EAP and work extensively with veterans, adults, and couples.

Hello, welcome to my Stronger Oregon Page! My name is Kristy McPeak (she/her/hers) and I'm a Professional Counselor Associate registered in the state of Oregon. I wanted to share a little bit about my educational background, therapeutic style and clients served.

My college experience began in 2012, when I graduated with a Certificate of Addiction Counseling, and later earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences with a Minor in Psychology. During that time, my work with adolescents and young adults in a variety of therapeutic, and non-profit settings led me to continue my educational journey, and in 2016 I received a Master’s in Counseling from Oregon State University, with an emphasis in both school and mental health counseling.

I enjoy working with clients across the life-span including children, adolescents, young people and adults. I have experience helping with anxiety, family and life transitions, addiction, teen pregnancy, depression, ADHD, trauma and loss.

My therapeutic style is rooted in compassion, person-centered, and collaborative in nature. I believe we all experience times where we need support, and it takes courage to reach out for help. Each of us has unique needs that can change over time, and counseling is individualized to each person’s situation. You are an important part of the therapeutic process, and the work that we do together. I place a great deal of value in the counseling relationship and believe you have inherent worth.

I strive to create a trauma-informed and supportive environment, where you feel valued and heard throughout the counseling process. I also honor the importance of mind and body wellness, taking a holistic approach. As counseling is individualized to meet the diverse needs of my clients, I use an integrative lens which includes using the following theoretical orientations: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Somatic and Art Therapy.

Choosing a therapist is a big decision, and I welcome the opportunity of working with you, your family or child. Please reach out if you have questions, or to schedule your first appointment.

My background includes a Master’s Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy, with over 41 years of experience working with people of all ages, backgrounds and orientations. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, depending on what works best for each individual. I have over 100 hours of training in grief and loss, with five years of experience working for a hospice organization. I also have many hours of continuing education in the area of trauma, and how to help people not only cope with, but move past the trauma to live more fulfilled lives. In addition to insight-oriented and cognitive therapy approaches, I am excited to incorporate the Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) into my practice.

My approach is person centered and strengths-based, seeing each person as the expert on themselves and emphasizing strengths rather than problems. I offer support, teach skills, and provide a safe and comfortable space for you to express yourself and explore feelings. Although therapy is work, I incorporate humor in my practice. As a dancer and dance/movement therapist, I appreciate the concepts of the mind-body connection, as what affects the mind or emotions, affects the body, and vise a versa. For this reason, I often encourage people to participate in activities that will engage both mind and body.

I have also lead many groups, including dance/movement therapy groups, grief support groups, and groups for specific populations (ie, Geriatric, Schizophrenic, deaf children). I have taught dance, worked as an artist model, and set up a peer mediation program for a Jr. High and High School in Arizona. I have been a dancer (ballet, modern), an inline skater, a skier, and hiker. Lately, I have enjoyed gardening and landscaping, taking drives to the beach, and watching British television. I have lived long enough to see how we reinvent ourselves over time, and I continue to do that. I feel this experience gives me empathy to help others reinvent themselves also.

If you would like to work with me, please complete the application below.

A warm hello and welcome!

I seek to encourage people in growing hope, in creating meaningfulness and realizing perspectives from life experiences, to self-empower and self-accept in a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space, free of stigma and shame.

Counseling can be transformative and healing. Counseling can also be challenging and uncomfortable at times. It is important to take it at one’s own pace. There are many different counselors to choose from and it can be self-empowering to choose a counselor or therapist that feels right to you.

My counseling approach is respectful, trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based and holistic. I believe wellness is possible through creating self-care practices, identifying and expanding positive coping and individual strengths, growing resilience and cultivating inner wisdom.

I hold a master of science in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Francisco State University and am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have completed specialized training to support people with disabilities, chronic illness and functional limitiations to navigate and overcome barriers to quality of life.

Since 2011, I have completed training and worked with culturally and socioeconomically diverse people in diverse settings: community mental health, addictions/harm reduction, re-entry, transitional housing, clinical counseling, Veterans in recovery, street outreach, Veterans and community crisis/suicide prevention/intervention, vocational rehabilitation/return-to-work, and vocational organic landscape gardening training and teaching. I’ve been with this awesome Team at Stronger Oregon since 2020.

My advanced training includes: spiritually integrated psychotherapy, grief/loss counseling, EMDR, trauma and crisis counseling, adaptation to disability, substance use counseling, intersectionality of disability/social/environmental justice and ongoing cultural competency.

I am an ally and advocate to Military/Veterans, LGBT+, and BIPOC communities. My research interests are Post-traumatic growth and return to work in gardening/farming for Veterans and community living with PTSD.

Please be welcome to schedule a consult or an intake to talk more about what brings you to counseling.

Thank you so much.

Our Work Together

For adults:

I have been described as calm, grounded, attentive, and caring. I believe healing cannot be forced and we go at your own pace. At the same time, we will remain attentive to what in your life is wanting to change, and I will help you find courageous action to make it happen. Joy reveals what nourishes our true self. Grief shows us what we have loved, and what we want to preserve. Fear reveals the edge of what we know, and where we might grow.

My “theoretical approach” draws upon the principles of attachment theory and interpersonal neurobiology to create an environment of safety and trust. Here you can come into deeper knowing of your own feelings, and discover what you truly value and want from life and relationships. From this place of knowing, the courage to make change, the ability to accept what we cannot, “and the wisdom to know the difference” can all be found.

Rather than looking for canned answers or interventions, I give attention to what is happening between us in the moment. As trust is built between us, old relationship patterns, limited ways of thinking, and unfelt feelings appear for exploration and healing. You will be held in acceptance while also challenged to follow where the seed of life is wanting to grow within you.

My degree is in Clinical Social Work, and my employment background is in crisis work. In times of emotional confusion or intense pain, I use mindfulness-based skills and expressive art practices (drawing, poetry, song) to help you find safety and expression for overwhelming emotions, thoughts, or images so that they can be felt and understood. Panic and anxiety can be soothed, grief can be expressed, and depression transformed into creativity.

I am deeply influenced by Jungian ideas and my own experiences as a psychotherapy client are rooted in this framework. You are welcome to bring your night dreams, visionary imagination, and creative work into our conversations. I also incorporate ecotherapy and look to Nature as a third partner in our work, as I believe that the Earth is our first source for healing, and our deepest teacher on relationships and wholeness.

Gender, race, sexuality, disability, body type, cultural background, and other forms of lived identity are important parts of who we are. In our sessions you will be empowered to witness and draw strength from all parts of yourself, seen and unseen.

For some, “feeling better” can happen in a matter of moments. For others, the healing journey becomes the privilege of a lifetime. You can expect from our time together that you will be given usable practices to find relief from emotional distress, while also receiving support to carry forward the healing into and with your own life. What we do will reflect what you want and need at this time. I look forward to meeting you!

For kids:

I enjoy being a children’s therapist because I love spending time with kids! For fun, I enjoy music, singing, learning about plants and animals (like my friend Jennifer, the chicken in the photo), writing, and being outside with my family. I have a French bulldog named Lily who loves to go for walks around Salem. My family loves card games, especially Magic the
