I believe all humans have the capacity for self-healing and utilize a holistic and collaborative counseling approach to facilitate this process. I am passionate about offering an empowering, mindful, and authentic space that supports the unique needs of individuals while honoring their journey toward optimal well-being.

I employ an eclectic approach that weaves together several therapeutic modalities to best serve the unique needs of each client. My style is based primarily in Person-Centered Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Parts Work, CBT, and Mindfulness. Depending on what is happening in your life, we can work together to tailor our time to best address your specific concerns in ways that feel right to you.

My background as a yoga and meditation teacher laid a strong foundation in attending to the complexities of the human experience in the physical, mental and emotional realms. I then brought my mind-body oriented practice into my higher education. I hold a bachelor's degree in Social Science from Oregon State University Cascades and a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Bastyr University. I have completed further training in IFS, EMDR, Trauma specific care, and Buddhist Psychology, along with ongoing education in Mindfulness. I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, and eating disorders.

Therapy is not a linear process and can include ups and downs. Taking the step of self-exploration takes immense courage. While I will serve as a guide for you in reaching your goals, ultimately it is always up to you how much effort you wish to put into therapy to achieve your desired results. My intention is to create a safe and nourishing environment for you to build self-efficacy, make meaning in your life, and connect to your true self.

I started my career as a teacher in at risk rural county schools in Virginia. I eventually became a teacher for Outward Bound, a wilderness therapy alternative school for adjudicated males age 14 to 17 yo. It was this experience that inspired me to pursue a career in wilderness therapy, eventually earning her Master's in Clinical Mental Health counseling at Lamar University.

My background and past clinical experience includes working in wilderness therapy, residential programs and Child Advocacy Centers in Utah, North Carolina and Oregon with at risk youth. I have worked with diverse populations, utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions and creative methods to meet the needs of those with whom I have worked. Through use of my gifts, knowledge, and experience, I seek to empower and motivate you to overcome issues, explore and implement healthy choices, and ultimately, to live your best life.

I am trained in EMDR, an intervention for processing and deactivating trauma, and in Neuroaffective Relational Therapy. I use a variety of other modalities, including CBT, ACT, body-centered psychotherapy, and Polyvagal therapy.

I have a passion for supporting individuals on their journey of healing. I utilize sensorimotor, mindfulness, and somatic awareness to help unlock the trapped memories that are leading to distress in an individual’s life to help them live in the present moment.

I see my role as helping you hear yourself, rediscover your truths, and expand your choices on your path to greater fulfillment and serenity.

Hi, I'm Shalman, and I help people find in themselves the strength and skills to reclaim their lives. Typically, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness-based methods in my practice, but I will incorporate aspects of Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Intersectional theory (including gender-specific lenses) and evolutionary psychology if appropriate.

My education includes Addiction Counseling, Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from colleges in Portland. Over the past 19 years, I have received specialized training in medication-assisted addiction treatment, working with parents involved with the child welfare system, behaviorism, criminality, interpersonal neurobiology, ex-prison re-entry, Men's issues, and anxiety disorders.

Perhaps you are skeptical of therapy, for which there are some valid reasons, but the research shows that the biggest factor in someone feeling like therapy is helpful, is the relationship you build with your therapist. Give it a shot, and if we aren't a good match, I'll help you find someone who is.

Outside of my work: I am into music, camping, old movies and cooking.

Hello! My name is Christina and I’m a Professional Counselor Associate working towards independent licensure in Oregon and Washington.

It takes immense courage to confront your own story. My practice is about helping you gain clarity, break old cycles, and leave therapy feeling more empowered and whole, with a deeper sense of peace within yourself. I utilize a client-centered, strengths-based, holistic approach to treatment. I work with each client to develop mutually desirable yet personally meaningful goals for treatment and use an integrative approach of psychodynamic, family systems, narrative-focused, and cognitive behavioral techniques to achieve those goals. I strive to live what I practice. I’ll ask you to work hard in therapy and behind the scenes, I’m working hard on myself, too. To be good therapists we need to confront our own stories, and I’m committed to both my growth and yours.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in child and family studies from Portland State University. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University. My professional experience includes working with survivors of domestic violence, adolescents and young adults in the juvenile justice system, and management of acute mental health crises. I can work with you individually to address a range of challenges including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders and disordered eating patterns.

It’s important to find the right fit so that you feel safe and fully supported in this vulnerable work. If you think that we would be a good fit, I would be honored to walk this path beside you, and I look forward to meeting you!

My name is Taylor Smith (she/her) and I entered clinical social work because I believe in the power of relationship as a vehicle for growth and healing, and because I also believe it’s important to recognize the systems of power, control, and culture that impact our well being. I strive to be BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ allied and affirming. I value helping individuals find peace and joy in their identity.

Modalities I pull from include: Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Teachers who guide me in this work include Tara Brach, Pixie Lighthorse, Nedra Glover Tawwab, Gabor Mate and my own therapist/healing work. An overarching goal I have for clients I work with is for them to build tolerance for the whole spectrum of emotions and learn to experience them as neutral information, or even as wisdom that leads to informed choice.

Experiences that led me down the path of clinical social work include several years of social justice work in Oregon prisons during my undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon and seven years of advocacy and peer counseling for survivors of gender-based violence. I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) at Portland State University in 2022 and am currently a Certified Social Work Associate (CSWA) under supervision and working towards licensure. For the past year and a half I worked as a behavioral health consultant in a primary care setting addressing whole person health: mental, emotional, physical and day to day functional well being. I look forward to pulling this wider scope into practice here at Stronger Oregon.

Common labels we put on experiences that might be a good fit for my expertise include: anxiety, stress, trauma, abuse, gender affirming care, grief, attachment wounding, codependency, family members of people with addiction, boundary setting work, and life change/transitions. This is a non-exhaustive list and if my approach seems like a good fit for you, I encourage you to reach out!

I help Oregonians like you, whether this is your first experience with therapy or you have worked with a counselor before. I take my cues from you, and together we will build a therapeutic relationship focused on achieving your goals. Whether you are dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, disability and chronic illness, weight stigma, career questions, or other life transitions, I want to help you frame your story, make meaningful progress, and develop clarity.

I use gentle and experiential modalities including brainspotting, mindfulness, and somatic exercises, all designed to heal the relationship between the body and self as we process trauma and difficult life events.

I have a master's degree in counseling from Portland State University. I was educated as a clinical rehabilitation counselor (CRC), which means I was specifically trained to work with disabled and chronically ill clients. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Oregon, which means that I have thousands of hours of experience. I am certified in brainspotting, which means I have extensive, personalized training in that modality.

I have worked with a wide-range of clients—BIPOC and white, adolescents, young, middle-aged, and older adults, people of all gender expressions and faiths, people experiencing complex trauma, and formerly incarcerated individuals. No matter who you are, my approach is compassionate, holistic, and strengths-based. I also want to help you develop mindful coping skills to nurture yourself even after our therapeutic relationship has ended.

My deeply held belief is that every human being is worthy of being seen, heard, respected, and loved. I aim to create a therapeutic environment of trust and safety, listening with curiosity and respect to the pain, struggle, and fears that clients bring to therapy. I work with clients to explore how they've been shaped by previous life experiences, to examine current dilemmas that are causing distress and confusion, to discern strategies and skills for coping, and to cultivate a place of inner peace and calm from which to move forward.

While I have experience assisting clients with various presenting issues, I am particularly interested in the intersection of emotional challenges and physical health. This could manifest as a chronic or acute illness in the client or in a family member for whom the client is providing care. I aim to bring a holistic approach to health and well-being, including one's emotions, thoughts, and physical body.
