I’ve been in the profession since 2007 and have almost 10 years of Post-Graduate Clinical Counseling experience. Jumping on “the wave of the future,” I have been providing Telehealth Counseling services for over a year now. I have practical experience serving both self-referred clients as well as those involved in the Criminal Justice System. I have successfully helped persons with varying clinical issues including; Anxiety, Depression, Relationship problems, Men’s issues, Faith-based struggles and most Mental Health disorders. I specialize in PTSD, Domestic Violence Interventions and Addictions Counseling. I am a Trauma Informed Counselor who is also registered with "Star Behavioral Health Providers" trained and experienced working with Military Veterans. I love what I do and do what I love!
I approach counseling from a combined Existential and Narrative therapies theoretical perspective. Existential and Narrative therapies are holistic approaches that explore persons’ stories and experiences in relation to the physical, social, personal, and spiritual dimensions of struggles from the client’s perspective. These theories strive to understand what it means to be human. The therapeutic relationship is one in which the therapist and client co- journey together examining the client’s difficulties that may possibly have origins in four universal questions; Who am I?, Where am I going and why?, Why am I here?, and What gives my life purpose and meaning? Exploring these questions in relation to your present circumstances may stimulate growth and promote healing and help you write a new and preferred story for your life.
I am educated and trained in many evidenced-based practices and borrow techniques from other theoretical disciplines to meet your individual needs when appropriate. I’ll work to help you develop a stronger sense of self-awareness and self-determination. As we journey together towards your realization of freedom and responsibility, you choose a new course that may lead to a better sense of well-being. I am an Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an Oregon Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor 1 (CADCI). I am held accountable to the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) and The Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). To maintain my LPC and CADCI I am required to participate in continuing education relevant to these professions. I earned my Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling at George Fox University (GFU) after previously earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social & Behavioral Sciences at Linfield College. In compliance with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) and the Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 833-025-0005, I have completed the educational requirements for Professional Counseling at GFU. I have also completed education for CADCI core competencies at GFU and Daystar Education, Inc.
